Ford Self-Study Tutorial Files

These tutorials, financed by The Ford Foundation, comprise a total of nearly sixty topics providing more than six hours of instruction. The tutorials demonstrate the use of nearly every section of the Microfin software, and all the tutorials are available in both English and Spanish.

You'll need Microfin 3.58 or higher in order to be able to run these. Be sure to download a new version of Microfin and use the Export Sheet to transfer your data into the new version.

NOTE!! These tutorials were developed to teach the new Microfin 4 software. They will run on Microfin 3.5, but the explanations and screenshots will not fully match the 3.5 version. You really should upgrade to Microfin 4!

Important! Please read this!

These files will need to be installed in a DEMOS folder underneath the folder where you originally installed Microfin. This is usually c:\Microfin so these files would be installed in c:\Microfin\Demos. The installation procedure will automatically create the Demos folder if it does not exist. If you do not remember where your original Microfin was installed, then you can install these tutorial files in a demos folder underneath the folder where your copy of Microfin currently resides.

If the tutorial files are not located in the places where Microfin looks, it will not be able to find them and they won't work!

Installing the Tutorial Files

There are two alternative:

Best alternative: If you have a good internet connection, do the following:

Download and install the tutorial software MfinDemoSAFlashPlayer.exe

Click on each auto-install link listed in the sections below. Each file is large, between 10M and 50M. You can save each file to your hard drive and then run them when you wish to install the tutorial software.

Second alternative: If you have difficulty downloading large files on the internet, do the following:

Download and install the tutorial software MfinDemoSAFlashPlayer.exe

Right-click on each swf and wmv file listed in the sections below that you want to study. Choose the option Save target as and save the file to a DEMOS folder below the folder where you have Microfin installed. For example, Microfin generally installs in c:\microfin. The tutorial folder would then be c:\microfin\demos. This folder will be automatically created in step 1, when you install the tutorial software. Each file is between 3M and 5M in size.

IMPORTANT: Software to run the tutorials (auto-install: MfinDemoSAFlashPlayer.exe)

You MUST download and install the above file in order to run any of the demos!
